Understanding CASB and its four Pillars

Introduction

CASB stands for “Cloud Access Security Broker” that can operate for both cloud based and for on-premises environments, and is available in both hardware and software form. It functions as an intermediate between the customers and cloud service providers so that it may provide security by addressing the gaps so that the attack surface can be decreased. It covers holes in every cloud environment such as in Software-as-a-service/SaaS, platform-as-a-service/PaaS and infrastructure-as-a-service/IaaS.

As long as an organization adheres to policy or standards, and it has multiple security policies that can be applied to the entire business that is in the cloud architecture, organizations can safely handle sensitive data on cloud storage after implementing a cloud access security broker (casb). It has become so popular because many firms have begun to adopt cloud computing or hybrid structures, and administrators may not be able to properly monitor unwanted acts when they occur. In order for administrators to implement consistent security controls on their assets and to ensure the protection of their users and sensitive data, Access controls, shared privileges, encrypted data, and other features are examples of these controls.
