Introduction

Managing assets in companies where constant changes are taking place in a short period of time, such as in the use of micro services or in cloud computing, where a large number of instances are being launched, can be difficult. Products and micro services may have vulnerabilities in their systems, and organisations may deploy them only to forget to remove them after the task has been accomplished. As a result, the products and micro services may become out of date, posing a risk to the organization’s integrity.

What are Assets?

It is possible for assets to be anything, such as resources that can be transformed into value or cash, with the hope that it would create a positive return on investment.

The servers, micro services (data), devices, and other components of the environment that support information-related activities can all be considered to be “information infrastructure” when discussing the modern information technology architecture.

Applications such as APIs, servers, data centers, and a variety of other resources are assets in the context of application security.
